Bird- & Wildlife
It's hard to photograph bird- & wildlife but when it works out, these shots can be amazing. In Iceland there's a variety of animals around, on land and in the surrounding ocean. It's possible to spot reindeer, arctic foxes, whales and various bird species (like puffins).

Puffin Up-Close
This curious bird is sometimes referred to as the penguin of the north. When you have the pleasure of seeing it as close as in this shot, it’s hard not to understand why that is.

Peek-A-Boo Seal
The one thing I've learned from watching and photographing seals, is that the longer you wait along the shore, the more likely it is they will come closer out of curiosity.

Brown Arctic Fox
Not all arctic foxes are white and not all of them change colours depending on the season. The colour-changing ability is solely dependant on a certain gene that has to be passed on by both parents.

A beautiful arctic fox with a bright white fur to camouflage itself during the winter season.

Sealhouette
A seal floating by on a small ice block at the Jökulsárlón ice lagoon. The combination of the silhouette and the low-hanging cloud make this a very ethereal image for me.

Horse Silhouette
The silhouette of an Icelandic horse, facing off the cold in the low winter sun.

Catch of the Day
A puffin, nesting at Borgarfjörður-Eystri, keeping its catch of the day ready to feed his young.

Fox Brothers
Never alone, always together. Two arctic foxes exploring Þórsmörk in their winter coats.

Facing The Storm
This lonely guy made this scene so complete for me. The landscape looks soft because of the strong gusts that were blowing over the area at the time. Combined with the sun, it gives this image such a warm and fuzzy vibe.⠀

Humpback Whale
A humpback whale in the Skjálfandi bay near Húsavík in North Iceland. This bay is one of the best places to spot bigger whales in Iceland.

Puffin Bokeh
This was one of my absolute dream shots to take when it comes to photographing puffins. I really liked the outcome where the sunset background blurs into the grassy foreground like a water colour painting.

Reindeer
When you're travelling in East Iceland (and you're lucky), you might spot some reindeer.

Elvis
The Icelandic horse is quite the animal. It can stay outdoors the whole winter in Iceland. Out of fear of weakening the breed, none-Icelandic horses are not allowed into the country. If the breed would weaken, they would not be sturdy enough to resist these conditions.

Puffin Sunset
A puffin resting in the sunset after a day of fishing along the Látrabjarg cliffs in the West Fjords.

White Fox in Þórsmörk

Réttir
In September all the relatives and friends of the Icelandic sheep farmers gather to herd all the sheep down from the mountains to keep them safe from the Icelandic winter conditions.

Seals in the West Fjords
There are a number of areas in Iceland where you can very easily spot seals sunbathing along the shore. The West Fjords has one of the areas where you can get closest to them.

Puffin Portrait
This lovely portrait of a puffin, during sunset, was taken at the impressive Látrabjarg cliffs in the Westfjords.

Orcas
A small pod of orcas travelling and feeding with a newborn calf sticking out its head. These animals are actually the biggest dolphin species but because of their size, they are often referred to as whales.

Facing Off Against The Wind
Iceland can be a ridiculously windy place. Fortunately these tough Icelandic horses are just built for these conditions.

Brown Arctic Fox
This curious little animal roams all over the Hornstrandir region in the Icelandic West Fjords. They’re not shy in that area and tend to come up really close to you.

Seals at Hvítserkur
One of the biggest seal colonies in Iceland resides near the majestic rock formation of Hvítserkur on the Vatnsnes peninsula.

Puffins at Látrabjarg
The puffins at Látrabjarg (West Fjords) sit so close to the path along the cliffs that you can almost touch them. It’s a brilliant experience that you don’t want to miss out on if you pass through to the West Fjords.

Birdlife in Iceland
The Icelandic birdlife is plenty during Summer. Not all of them are shy. Some stay close enough to be photographed with "normal" lenses.
